  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring/exit pages, and the dates and times of your visits.
  • Site interaction data: pages viewed, products browsed, items added to your cart, search terms used on the Site, and links clicked.
  • Cookie data: information collected through cookies and similar technologies, described further in Section 6 below.

2.3 Information from Third Parties

3. How We Collect Information

We collect information through the following methods:

  1. Directly from you when you place an order, create an account, sign up for communications, fill out a form, or contact us.
  2. Automatically through cookies, log files, and similar technologies as you browse our Site.
  3. From service providers such as our payment processor and shipping carriers, who share limited transaction-related information with us in order to complete your order.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Order fulfillment: to process, fulfill, and ship your orders, process payments and refunds, and communicate with you about your order status.
  • Account management: to create and maintain your account, authenticate your identity, and provide access to your order history and saved preferences.
  • Customer service: to respond to your inquiries, resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, and provide support.
  • Site operation and improvement: to operate, maintain, and improve our Site, diagnose technical issues, and understand how visitors use our Site.

  • Fraud prevention and security: to detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions, unauthorized access, and other illegal activity.

We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics tracking tools (such as Google Analytics or Meta/Facebook Pixel) on our Site. If this changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly and, where required by law, obtain your consent before deploying such tools.

5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Visitors)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, we process your personal information on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: to fulfill our obligations to you when you place an order or create an account.
  • Consent: where you have given clear consent, such as opting in to marketing emails or accepting non-essential cookies.
  • Legitimate interests: for purposes such as fraud prevention, Site security, and improving our Services, where these interests are not outweighed by your data protection rights.
  • Legal obligation: where processing is necessary to comply with applicable law, such as tax and accounting requirements.

6. Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies

Our Site uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) to operate properly and to enhance your browsing experience. Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website.

6.1 Types of Cookies We Use

  • Strictly necessary cookies: required for core Site functionality, such as keeping items in your shopping cart, maintaining your login session, and enabling secure checkout. These cannot be disabled without affecting Site functionality.
  • Functional cookies: used to remember your preferences, such as your selected currency, size preferences, or region, to improve your shopping experience.
  • Performance cookies: used to understand how visitors interact with our Site so that we can identify and fix issues. We do not currently use third-party analytics services, but our e-commerce and hosting platform may use limited first-party cookies of this type to support Site operation.

6.2 Managing Cookies

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings, including blocking or deleting cookies. Please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of our Site, such as checkout, from functioning correctly. Instructions for managing cookies can typically be found in your browser's "Help" or "Settings" menu.

7. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for monetary consideration. We may share your personal information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: we share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf, including our e-commerce platform provider, payment processor, shipping and fulfillment carriers, email service providers (if and when marketing communications are sent), and hosting providers. These providers are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us.
  • Payment processor: to complete your transactions securely, as described in Section 8.
  • Legal and safety reasons: we may disclose information if required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
  • Business transfers: if Bikini J is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
  • With your consent: we may share your information for other purposes with your explicit consent.

8. Payment Processing

All payments made on our Site are processed through a secure, third-party payment processor (such as Shopify Payments, Stripe, or PayPal, depending on the payment method you select at checkout). We do not directly collect, store, or have access to your full credit card number, card verification code (CVV), or other sensitive payment card information.

When you submit payment information, it is transmitted directly to our payment processor through an encrypted connection. Our payment processor is responsible for the security of that information in accordance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of the relevant payment processor used at checkout for more information about how it handles your payment data.

We receive only limited information from our payment processor necessary to confirm and process your order, such as transaction confirmation, the last four digits of your payment card, and billing address.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. In general:

  • Order and transaction records are retained for as long as necessary to comply with tax, accounting, and legal recordkeeping obligations, typically a minimum of several years following the transaction.
  • Account information is retained for as long as your account remains active, plus a reasonable period thereafter in case you wish to reactivate your account.
  • Marketing data (such as email opt-in status) is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
  • Customer service communications are retained for a reasonable period to allow us to address any follow-up questions or disputes.

When personal information is no longer needed for these purposes, we will securely delete, anonymize, or destroy it.

10. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include the use of encrypted connections (such as TLS/SSL) for data transmission, restricted access to personal information on a need-to-know basis, and reliance on reputable, security-vetted third-party service providers such as our payment processor.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security, and you provide information to us at your own risk.

11. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: the right to request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
  • Deletion: the right to request that we delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions (for example, information we are required to retain for tax purposes).
  • Opt-out of marketing: the right to unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any marketing email or by contacting us directly.
  • Restriction or objection: the right to request that we restrict or stop certain processing of your personal information, in certain circumstances.
  • Portability: the right to request a copy of your personal information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, where applicable.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at tonjaadkins@bikinij.com. We will respond to your request within the time period required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, "CCPA"), provides you with specific rights regarding your personal information, including:

  • Right to know what categories of personal information we have collected about you, the sources of that information, the purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • Right to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA.
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information, where applicable. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those necessary to provide our Services.

To exercise these rights, California residents may contact us at tonjaadkins@bikinij.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request." You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, subject to our ability to verify that authorization.

In the preceding 12 months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 2 of this Policy for the business purposes described in Section 4. We have not sold or shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

13. European and UK Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, in addition to the rights described in Section 11, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe our processing of your personal information violates applicable law.

Where we rely on your consent to process personal information (for example, for marketing communications), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

14. Children's Privacy

Our Site and Services are not directed at, or intended for use by, children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 16, we will take reasonable steps to delete such information as soon as possible. If you believe we may have collected information from a child under 16, please contact us immediately at tonjaadkins@bikinij.com.

15. International Data Transfers

Bikini J operates in the United States, and the personal information we collect is primarily stored and processed in the United States. If you are accessing our Site from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country of residence. By using our Site, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.

16. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature. Because there is not yet a common industry standard for how to interpret DNT signals, our Site does not currently respond to DNT browser signals. We will continue to monitor developments around DNT and update this Policy as needed.

17. Third-Party Links

Our Site may contain links to third-party websites, plugins, or applications that are not operated by us. Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share information about you. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will revise the "Effective Date" at the top of this Policy. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice, such as a notification on our Site or via email, where appropriate. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
